This is just a friendly reminder to let everyone interested in our Make-Your-Own-Crossover-Comic Contest to send in their scripts by Friday. After that, I’ll be choosing a winner and deciding whether or not to make the next contest all-inclusive (meaning CCA members can participate) or if I’ll put it off a little longer. We’ve only gotten two scripts so far but both of them are much better than the ones we had at this time in the last contest… but then again, the best entries didn’t come in until the last minute, either.

Also, this probably doesn’t come as a huge surprise to anybody who’s been keeping tabs on the site, but since Ash has been too swamped with work to contribute much to the site (and since ccacomics.com’s domain is up for renewal and he’s tight on cash), I’m going to be re-taking the reins as CCA Commander-in-Chief. This means that in a couple of months we’ll probably have a whole new layout (again). I’ll need some time to figure out how I want to work it.

I’m sure you kids are all wondering when you’ll get your chance to make a comic as sweet as Chun-Li VsAquaman, right? Well, your next chance starts now. I’ve set up an official page of rules for the contest as well as set the next deadline. The Make-Your-Own-Crossover-Comic Contest Page

I’m also still working on CAT Vs FFX-2, of course. For the latest updates, visit this thread in our boardroom.

Three weeks ago, David Bircham sent me the grayscale version of the comic and asked me if I wanted to wait for him to color it or to stop it at monochrome. I asked him to go ahead and finish coloring it like we had originally planned, and I’m glad I did.

David sent me the finished version of the winner’s comic today. If this isn’t the coolest thing to happen to Kikouken.com and the Crossover Comic Archive, it definitely makes the Top 3. To view it, click here.

The artwork kicks ass, and he did an especially great job with Chun-Li’s colors. The fight has a nice load of action, but without a doubt the highlight of the comic is when David uses his usually dark, detailed, and serious art style to depict the sillier moments of the comic. I can’t wait to see what we get for the next one. David will contact me in a few days when he’s ready to begin preparations for the next contest. Get those notepads warmed up, folks!

Unfortunately, the Chun-Li Vs Aquaman comic that won the first monthly CCA contest being sponsored by David Bircham is still not completed. I apologize to the fans, and especially the winner and the runner-up, for the delay. I’m keeping in contact with David Bircham and he’s been telling me that he’s encountered an unexpectedly large amount of work but he has been working on the comic when he can and it’s looking great. We’re sorry about the delay but I’ve seen lots of David’s work so I really think it will be worth the wait. Please be patient a little while longer.

I have no new comic for this week because I’ve been in an incredibly sour mood lately, as major server lag in Final Fantasy XI has caused me constant disconnects and destroyed my ability to function in a party. I’m attempting to find a better service, but, living in rural Maine, my options are embarassingly limited. I can’t even get cable or broadband. So unless Square-Enix actually gets off its lazy ass and does something about the lag or I luck upon a better dial-up connection, I may be forced to quit the game I’ve enjoyed and the character I’ve been building for over a year. I’m REALLY not in a good mood.

The first winner of the Make Us Make Your Own Comic contest has been named, and it’s Chun-Li Vs Aquaman by Precious Roy. We also have one runner-up that will be allowed to participate in next months contest, Sakura Vs. The Collector by Danica Tomsho. Congratulations to both you for your great entries! David Bircham tells me to expect to see his version of Chun-Li Vs Aquaman within the next two weeks. Meanwhile, I’m going to need to put aside a few minutes and update the contest page for the next round.

By the way, like the little extrathingie I added to this update? I’m going totry and keep the main site as updated on my weekly comic progress as I do the boardrooms. Though I’m still looking for a good permanent format because this way kinda blows. And it doesn’t help that I don’t really like the format and contrary to what Ash says, updating with this design whichfoces me to use HTML code is a serious pain in the ass. -_--Gilgamesh
